Rooibos tea is known for unique flavor and soothing qualities. The Rooibos plant only grows in the mountainous Cederberg region 250 km to the north of Cape Town South Africa and nowhere else in the world. The Cederberg Mountains are known for their extraordinary rock formations, well-preserved prehistoric rock paintings by the early San people, and the rare Clanwilliam Cedar trees from which the area takes its name. Wild leopards still roam the area.
The leaves of the plant are rich in polyphenol antioxidants and has a low tannin content as well as no caffeine.
Rooibos tea is made by harvesting the leaves by hand. Leaves are then chopped, allowed to oxidise (This process produces the distinctive reddish-brown colour of Rooibos and enhances the flavour), then dried, steam sterilised and graded and stored for sale..
ROOIBOS is an ideal hot or cold drink in the afternoon or evenings for children and adults alike.
